Status Check
16 days into October my streak is alive. I have run everyday in October. So far that I have tallied 51 miles for the month. Week one: 19.5 miles. Week two: 24.5 miles. I am hoping to run 30 miles this week and 35 next week as long as my legs continue to hold up.

NOV. 1 Indianapolis Mini-Marathon Price Increase
On Nov. 1 the price to enter the mini goes from $50-$70. If you are thinking about running the race you may want to register soon to avoid the additional charge.
As I was on youtube I came across this video of the NF team at this years Philadelphia Distance Run (PDR). It would be awesome to have so many people wearing the NF colors at the 2009 Mini-Marathon. Take a look at the video in you need any more inspiration:

31 days of running in October
Here is my ambitious October goal: run every day. I will attempt to run atleast 1 mile every day this month. I will still do my normal 3 to 5 mile midweek runs and longer weekend runs but will try to add the extra mileage on what would normally be my off days from running. October is just about the best month for running in the midwest weather wise. Morning lows are in the 40-50's and highs in the 60-70's. I prefer running right around 48*. Cool enough that I don't overheat on long runs or fast paced runs but warm enough that I am not shivering in the beginning of the run. On race days I always hope for temps between 45-55.
Give some thought to making your own active streak. Whether it is running every day, walking, adding push ups and/or sit ups or whatever else you like to do. Thanksgiving is right around the bend so you'll want to make room for that slice of pumpkin pie!
Todays Workout
This evening after dinner I loaded Anneliese in the jog stroller and we headed out for a 3.5 mile run. We started out with a loop around our subdivision which is exactly 1 km and then continued on to a 3 mile route through the park, past the track, and back past the library. We talked about Anneliese's day at school. Then she explained to me her theory about bedtime...I'll sum it by saying that she wants to always decide when she is going to bed. Not likely but nice try. She asked to stop at the park, "not tonight;" she asked to stop at the library, "not tonight." Then we got back to our street where I let her out of the stroller and we finished the trip back to our house with high knees and heiny kicks. She is a great little training partner!
